I am Ángel Serrano Sánchez de León, holding a degree in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid, a master’s degree in Information Technologies and Computer Systems from Rey Juan Carlos University, and a European Doctorate from the Official Doctoral Program in Information Systems Engineering at Rey Juan Carlos University.

Since September 2016, I have been working as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Statistics at the School of Computer Science (ETSII) of Rey Juan Carlos University, an institution with which I was also affiliated from 2003 to 2012. I currently hold the position of Profesor Contratado Doctor (Tenured Assistant Professor). I participate in the research activities of the Face Recognition & Computer Vision group (FRAV), as well as those of the ADALID teaching innovation group.
Since 2019, I have worked tirelessly to establish the ETSII Museum of Computing and Video Games, which opened in February 2025. It can be visited in Building III (Aulario III) on the Móstoles campus. Since September 2025, I have officially held the position of Academic Coordinator for the ETSII Museum of Computing.
From March 2023 to August 2025 I was the coordinator of the Degree in Software Engineering. Previously, I was also the acting coordinator of the Degree in Cybersecurity Engineering (December 2002 to November 2023), as well as an external internship tutor for the Degree in Cybersecurity Engineering (November 2022 to January 2024).
My current interests focus on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Facial Biometrics, Statistical Learning, Computer Vision, Statistics, Big Data, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Data Visualization, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Network Analysis, and Astronomy, among others.
Since the 2003/2004 academic year, I have participated intermittently in the University for Seniors program at Rey Juan Carlos University, where I teach an Astronomy Workshop for people over the age of 50.
I am accredited by ANECA for the following academic ranks: Profesor Contratado Doctor, private university professor, Profesor Ayudante Doctor, and Profesor Colaborador. I am also accredited by ACAP (Madrid) for the ranks of Profesor Contratado Doctor, private university professor, and Profesor Ayudante Doctor.
From 2012 to 2016, I also worked as a full-time assistant professor at the Higher Polytechnic School of Francisco de Vitoria University, where I taught classes in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering and the official Master’s Degree in Open Source Analysis Techniques.
